It was an ideal summer night for our Annual FOG Business Meeting, elections and Banquet in the open lanai room at the Bali Hai overlooking San Diego Harbor and skyline.
The evening began with drinks and socializing. Guests received a lei and a raffle ticket and joined the building crowd for conversation and laughter. Tom Phillips and Mike Wasilewski made sure all the registrations were in order. We reached the rooms capacity in pre-paid reservations. The Business meeting began at 6:45, chaired by President Albert Padilla. By acclamation Vice-President John Keasler was elected to the office of President. Michael Wasilewski to the office of Director At Large. Michael had already served in that role for several months. A revised By-Laws were also approved. The buffet style dinner included pork, chicken and vegetarian entrees, seasoned mashed potatoes, sweet and sour vegetables, salad and fresh rolls. The Bali Hai chefs always serve delicious fair. After dinner we sliced the 30th Anniversary cake. Ted Callum moderated our program for the evening with humor and reflection. We remembered the late former President John Kozjak. Joel Nimon was recognized for his many years as newsletter editor. Joel Nimon was recognized for his many years a newsletter editor. Albert Padilla, Tom Phillips and James Hurtado were honored for their service. |
Our organization began when our two founding members met through an ad one of them had placed in a local newspaper, looking for like-minded gay men over 40 who wanted to “socialize and pursue educational, entertainment and cultural interests”. The first meeting took place on September 7, 1993 with 10 people in attendance and we now number around 200 members. Learn more on our About page.
